Word Bank - Propitiation

My new favorite word: Propitiation. Just the way it sounds, makes me think of a sacrafice. And I should, because that is what it means.
Propitiation: a mediator, sacrifice, substitute.
I came across this word (propitiation) a few days ago in my my quiet time while reading 1 John 2:1-2. It says this,
"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whle world."
Not only does the word sound amazing but when seen in context it brings on a whole new meaning! Christ Jesus is the propitiation, our propitiation, the sacrifice, the substitute before a Holy God, the bearer of the whole world's sins!
This is from my journal entry that day:
Though we have sinned, we need not worry about how to make up for our wrong actions. God has already sent his son as the mediator between Himself and us.
-God has given us all good things; the greatest being his Word where he has shown us how to walk out our lives for his glory. he is such a gracious God and willingly lay his life down as our substitute and that awful, yet glorious cross.
-I am a sinner in need of a Savior, yet God in his great mercy intervened and rescued me from the pit of hell. How Great Is Our God!

(Sorry about the last comment, I deleted it because I mispelled Propitiation...oops)
I like Propitiation, it is an important word because it lays out the foundation of all that Christians believe. It is cool that you started your word bank with a word that is much deeper and more meaningful than many other words you could have chosen. Actually your post is an encouragement to me!
